LIGHT OF THE WORD
Psalm 119:105 says, "Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path."
David use the same word interchangeably... Lamp and light are same word however, he is teaching us the power of the word in a man's life how it can do diverse things for us
The word directs man's steps and makes their way right, prosperous, successful and fruitful.
The scripture says, I have observed something else under the sun. The fastest runner doesn't always win the race, and the strongest warrior doesn't always win the battle. The wise sometimes go hungry, and the skillful are not necessarily wealthy. And those who are educated don't always lead successful lives. It is all decided by chance, by being in the right place at the right time. Eccl. 9:11 (NLT).
The word of God directs us in our work and way, Thus those who delights in it do not stumble. Oh how dark and terrible our world would be without the light of the word.
But with the light shinning in our paths, It shows us the way to follow; it prevents us from stumbling over obstacles, or failing down into enemies trap. It keeps us from wandering off into paths which would lead into danger or destruction, or would turn us away from the path to life.
Psalm 119:9 ask a question,"How can a young man keep his way pure?" And also gives us answer to the question. He says it is "By guarding it according to your word". Thus life outside the guidance of the word is crisis.
Therefore, the word is a lamp that keeps burning continuously with the oil of the Spirit, as a light to direct us in the CHOICE we make in life. It is a light which shines on the road that a man walks, so that he may see the path, and any danger which may be in his path and avoid them.
May the light of the word direct your step, may it bring you to the right place where you will find pastures.
