FROM BITTER TO SWEET When they came to the oasis of Marah, the water was too bitter to drink. So they called the place Marah (which means "bitter"). Ex. 15:23 The Israelites having journeyed for days without water in the wilderness was exhausted. The entire area is a wilderness and no water. Suddenly there is hope, they see water before them. On sight of the river, after three days of thirst, they heaped a sigh of relief. At last there is water before them...  Oh how joyous they must have been to find a relief.... But wait a second, their joy quickly turned sour, the blessing of the water was not what they expected, it is a bitter water. The only water they could see turned to be “bitter”. Their joy turned to sorrow, their soul was in pains, "how could God do this to them", they must have thought. They all complained and murmured as a result of the bitter water.   CHOSEN BY GRACE Paul in 1 Corinthians 15:10 says, “But by the grace of God I am what I am: and his grace which was bestowed upon me was not in vain; but I laboured more abundantly than they all: yet not I, but the grace of God which was with me.” (KJV). Sometimes we tend to think that we get through in life by our own power or self-righteousness but I have come to understand that we are nothing outside the grace of God. No matter how educated you are if grace does not work with you, your education is meaningless, it will take you nowhere. Oh it is good to be righteous for that is who we are in Christ: nevertheless, you don’t depend on your righteousness but upon the Spirit of grace who administers grace upon grace on us.
