OVERTAKING BY THE SPIRIT
OVERTAKING BY THE SPIRIT
'Then the Lord gave special strength to Elijah. He tucked his cloak into his belt and ran ahead of Ahab’s chariot all the way to the entrance of Jezreel."
1 Kings 18:46 NLT
There's a realm that controls the physical, a realm where things are settled before it is made visible, it is the realm of the supernatural also known as the spiritual realm.
No one can achieve anything meaningful in life without the assistant from the spiritual realm.
In Genesis 2:7 the scripture tells us, "And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul". KJV
Now understand that the clay was inactive, motionless and powerless until the breath of life,(which is the Spirit of life) was put into him. Thus without the Spirit there is no life, the Spirit in man is the power or force that makes Him operational, useful, meaningful and impactful.
So also is life in general, no one can move forward or have speed and overtake without the assistant of the Holy Spirit.
Now our text in 1 kings chapter 18 verse 46 made us to understand that Elijah overlook Ahab who was already running with horse, and the strength and speed of horse can't be compared to that of man.
Therefore Elijah couldn't have overtaken Ahab by his physical strength, it was by the power of the Holy Spirit that enabled him to do such.
Good News Translation puts it this way, "The power of the Lord came on Elijah; he fastened his clothes tight around his waist and ran ahead of Ahab all the way to Jezreel." 1 Kings 18:46 GNTD
It was the Spirit that gave Elijah the special ability that made him out ran Ahab. Help came to him from the supernatural realm and he was quickened to do the unusual.
Elijah was not an Angel or a spirit being but was a human like you and I and James attested to it when he wrote, "For example, God's prophet Elijah was the same kind of person as we are...." Jame5:17 EASY
What made him unique was fellowship and relationship with the heavenly Father, he knows how to spend quality time with Him. He wasn't the touch and go type who only go to the father only when trouble came knocking and He was not the visiting type also.
Elijah he was one who spent his days and nights in the place of fellowship, he dwelled in the realm of the Spirit. How do I know this?
We saw in chapter 17 verse 1 that he said he stood before God* in order word, he dwelled, lived, resided, and stayed in the presence of God. Yhat is to say, he spends time in fellowship, in communion, and in prayers.
Oh beloved, understand that no one stays in the presence of the Lord and remains the same and they don't come out empty either. He gives them power to take charge and to be ahead all the time.
Paul said in Hebrews 4:16 "Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need"
This confirms that we are energized, quickened and endowed with power to overtake when we dwell in the presence of our Father.
The Psalmist also declared, "He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High shall remain stable and fixed under the shadow of the Almighty [Whose power no foe can withstand.
Psalm 91:1 AMPC
If you want to overtake in these season of OVERTAKING SPEED , then you must be ready to not only stand before the presence of the Lord but dwell daily with Him.
Surely His presence will envelope you and give you an edge. It doesn't matter who has been ahead before, or who started before you, one thing is certain, that with the endowment of the power of God in you, you will overtake.
