GOOD OF THE LAND
GOOD OF THE LAND
Elizabeth I. Abaye
"If you are willing and obedient, You shall eat the good of the land; Isaiah 1:19 NKJV
God did not call us to a life of shame, reproach or lack and want but to inherit blessings. God want us to prosper in every area of our lives but He does not want us to live our lives in misplaced priorities
Of a truth, material blessings are added bonus to our relationship with God. However, we must understand that our material and physical prosperity are hinged on our willingness to obey Him.
We have been brought into the land of glory, prosperity, abundance, and honor, God chose us out of the world that we can enjoy His blessings on earth and reign in life. The scripture says "it is the good of the land" The Amplified versions refers to it as “the best of the land”; Oh yes, the best of the land is our portion in Christ Jesus.
The good of the land refers to possessions, prosperity, fruitfulness and increase. It is God’s abundance provision made available for our enjoyment. Oh Solomon says, Also, every man to whom God has given riches and possessions, He has also given the power and ability to enjoy them and to receive [this as] his [allotted] portion and to rejoice in his labor—this is the gift of God [to him]. Ecclesiastes 5:19 AMP
The good of the land also refers to the material blessings that God provides through the abundance of the earth. Thus Psalm 67:5-6 says, “Let the peoples praise You, O God; Let all the peoples praise You. Then the earth shall yield her increase; God, our own God, shall bless us.”
Material blessing is a part of God’s goodness unto His heritage. He delights in our enjoyment of the increase of the earth. Jeremiah 2:7 tells us, “And I brought you into a plentiful country, to eat the fruit thereof and the goodness thereof;”
But to enjoy all His blessings is a matter of you and I either choosing to be willing and obedient and receive it and live a happy life or be unwilling and disobey and live in frustration.
Willingness in our text refers to consenting in one's wills to the Father's will.... 1Kings 2:3 says: “Observe what the Lord your God requires: Walk in obedience to him, and keep his decrees and commands.... Do this so that you may prosper in all you do and wherever you go"
On the other hand, obedience is doing what you are told to do, or what the law, or a rule says you must do. It is compliance with a command,
The truth is that obedience is an essential part of the Christian faith. Looking at our Master Jesus Christ, we see that Himself was “Obedient unto death, even death on a cross” (Philippians 2:8). This we must learn from Him and emulate Him.
Understand that for obedience to accomplish its purpose, it must be complete. We can't do it halfway, partial obedience is disobedience.
God’s blessings has conditions attach to it, it is your willingness to do His will and to be obedient to His word that is the criteria to living in his blessings and eating the good of the land.
The choice belongs to us to make. If we chose to do the right thing we will certainly eat the good of the land.
The land has been bestowed with so much blessings and goodness, there is more than enough for everyone
Therefore let us be submitted to God, resisting anything that may stand against our enjoyment of the good of the land.
